Un portavoz del <strong>Departamento de Seguridad Nacional de Estados Unidos (DHS)<\/strong> confirm\u00f3 que aproximadamente <strong>170,000 beneficiarios<\/strong> conservar\u00e1n, por ahora, su protecci\u00f3n migratoria, mientras el Gobierno estadounidense prepara un anuncio oficial sobre el futuro del programa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La decisi\u00f3n <strong>no constituye una extensi\u00f3n definitiva del TPS ni establece un nuevo periodo de vigencia<\/strong>. De momento, permite que los beneficiarios contin\u00faen bajo la protecci\u00f3n del programa mientras las autoridades estadounidenses definen y comunican la decisi\u00f3n correspondiente.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El TPS para El Salvador permanece vigente desde <strong>2001<\/strong>, cuando fue otorgado tras los terremotos que afectaron al pa\u00eds. El programa permite a ciudadanos de determinados pa\u00edses permanecer temporalmente en Estados Unidos y, bajo sus condiciones, obtener autorizaci\u00f3n de empleo cuando existen circunstancias que impiden un retorno seguro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La Administraci\u00f3n del presidente <strong>Donald Trump<\/strong> ha sostenido que el TPS fue creado como una medida de car\u00e1cter temporal.
